2008/2009 Statistics and Current Year at a Glance
- The number of Page Scholars has grown from 10 the first year to 650 this year.
- The number of applicants has grown from 11 the first year to nearly 1,100 this spring.
- 7,520 Page Grants have been awarded to 3,670 individual students.
- Page Scholars have studied at 104 different post-secondary schools across Minnesota.
- 100 children were served by Page Scholars the first year; this year, over 15000 will be served.
- Page Scholars have volunteered in more than 750 schools and community organizations.
- More than 24,000 hours of service have been given by Page Scholars.
- There were 100 Senior Mentors (adult mentor program) in the program last year.
- Twenty-five former Page Scholars have volunteered in the Senior Mentor Program.
- In the past twelve years, at least 1050 Page Scholars graduated from their programs
Who are these Page Scholars?
- They are 58% female and 42% male.
- They are ethnically diverse:
69% African American
19% Asian American
10% Hispanic, Latino
2% American Indian
- They attend 50 colleges and universities in Minnesota!
28% attend the University of Minnesota (4 campuses);
24% attend private 4 year colleges/universities;
34% attend community & technical colleges;
14% attend Minnesota State Universities in seven different communities.
