Page Education Foundation Announces a New Program - Page Connections
Page Connections is a new program aimed at supporting Page Scholars as
they work to successfully complete their education and community
service. This program was outlined in part from feedback from our Page
Scholars – they articulated ways the Page Education Foundation could
support them while in school. Page Connections provides Page Scholars
the opportunity to access support services on campus,
internships/career opportunities, group service projects and ways to
connect with other Page Scholars. In addition, Page Connections creates
meaningful mentoring relationships by matching adult volunteers with
interested Page Scholars whose college and career experience complement
one another. Last year we had over 100 volunteers contributing to the
success of Page Scholars education through this mentoring program.
Former Page Scholar Kao Kalia Yang recently won best memoir/creative fiction category at the Minnesota Book Award—a project of Friends of the St. Paul Public Library—for her memoir, “The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir.” In her memoir, Yang tells her family’s journey from Laos to a refugee camp in Thailand to California to eventually settling in Minnesota during the Vietnam War where the Hmong fought alongside Americans. Her memoir provides an eloquent recount of her family’s struggles as they attempt to adapt to this new life and community.

The Page Education Foundation presents this annual report with great pride. As the number of Page Scholars grows, our original vision has not changed. This year, we anticipate our 650 Page Scholars will reach more than 15,000 younger children. Our impact on the community is clear. In this annual report, you will meet several Page Scholars striving to succeed in school while making a difference in their communities.
Nowhere is the tradition of giving more vital than in scholarships, with one generation assisting the next. For the first time, you can create a named scholarship at the Page Education Foundation.
