PAGE EDUCATION FOUNDATION In 1988, to mark his induction into the National Football League Hall of Fame, Alan Page and his wife Diane founded the Page Education Foundation (PEF). In the last 28 years, the Page Education Foundation has thrived and grown. Today, PEF awards scholarships to more than 500 students of color each year for their post-secondary education at Minnesota colleges and universities. But Alan and Diane Page had a vision that went beyond offering scholarships. In exchange for financial support from the Foundation, recipients, known as Page Scholars, contribute to our community by mentoring young children of color in grades kindergarten through eighth. Through this interaction, Page Scholars develop leadership—many volunteer more than the required 50 hours each year—and the children they work with see these role models as examples of inspiration and hope. To date, Page Scholars have volunteered over 420,000 hours. For the 2015-16 academic year we have 536 Page Scholars who will be awarded $900,000 in Page Grants. To mark his retirement from the Minnesota Supreme Court in 2015, Justice Page has launched a new effort, to build awareness of ethics and the elimination of bias in the law, matters that will shape our legal community now and in the future. WHY SPONSOR Please join us in supporting the first Justice Alan Page Elimination of Bias Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Seminar on Friday, May 6, 2016. Proceeds from this event directly benefit Page Scholars in the form of Page Grants. Your sponsorship is also an investment in our community. When you sponsor this event, not only do you provide financial support to help a Page Scholar overcome the financial barriers associated with higher education, you also provide a positive role model to a child in our community, reduce the student-to-adult ratio in our classrooms and public schools, and develop tomorrow’s leaders. CLE PROGRAM The course will be unique, offering:
- Candid discussion of critical and timely issues that affect lawyers, their communities, and the administration of justice.
- Strategies to inspire the elimination of bias in law.
- A welcoming format, where attendees will enjoy a pre-CLE breakfast reception with the speakers, followed by the presentation, and interactive dialogue related to addressing implicit bias in the law.
- A new way to support education and community service; proceeds from the event will benefit the Page Education Foundation.
